When my French friend came over to my place, she said, “I’ll make an easy dessert for you!” and made this Apple Crumble. It was so delicious that I wanted to recreate it myself.
You simply sauté the apples, top them with the crumble, and bake—no need to cut neat slices or portion it perfectly, so it’s incredibly simple.
It seems the common way to eat it is to scoop it with a spoon, so there’s no stress about the shape falling apart or not turning out nicely.
The combination of hot apple crumble and vanilla ice cream is the best.
The crumbly, crispy topping, the warm and tender apples, and the melting vanilla ice cream are absolutely delicious—please give it a try.
Ingredients
| Apples (I used Fuji apples) | 2 |
| Brown sugar | 2 tbsp |
| Butter | 10g |
| Cinnamon powder | about 10 shakes |
| Lemon juice | 1 tsp |
| Cake flour | 70g |
| Brown sugar | 40g |
| Cold butter | 50g |
Instructions
① Prepare the apples.
Peel the apples and cut them into bite-sized pieces.

② Melt the butter in a pan, then add the apples, brown sugar, and lemon juice.
Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, making sure not to burn them.
Sprinkle cinnamon at the end and sauté lightly.

③ Make the crumble.
In a bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and butter.
While wearing cooking gloves, rub the butter into the flour and sugar with your fingertips until it forms a crumbly mixture.

④ Spread the apples on the bottom of a heatproof dish and sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly on top.
Bake at 180°C (356°F) for 30 minutes.
Tip: It tends to brown quickly, so it’s better to bake it on a lower rack in the oven.
