In the first version with avocado and egg toast, the flavors of avocado and egg were quite strong, so the Vegemite was barely noticeable. This version, however, uses only cheese and butter, allowing the Vegemite flavor to come through a bit more. For first-timers, spreading the butter generously and adding a little extra cheese makes it easier to enjoy. Give it a try!
Ingredients
Toasts | 2 slices |
Butter | 5g |
Melting cheese | 2 slices |
Vegemite | less than 1/4 teaspoon |
How to Make
1⃣ Place the melting cheese on the toast and grill it. Spread the butter and Vegemite very thinly.

Vegemite is a source of B vitamins, specifically thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and folate (B1, B2, B3 and B9, respectively). The base version contains no vitamin B12 (cobalamin) although both vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) and vitamin B12 are added to the low-salt formulation.[38]

I think it’s great that just a small spread on your usual toast can give you a dose of B vitamins so easily.
When I visited Melbourne, I was walking through a market and saw Vegemite products. My friend and I were excited, and then a woman approached us saying, “I actually work for the company that sells Vegemite!” I was surprised. I told her that I enjoyed pairing Vegemite with Tim Tam, and she said, “That’s a great idea!” which made me really happy.

If you think this looks delicious, share it on Twitter/X! I’d be even happier if you tag me in your “I made this” posts!
