This refreshing octopus salad is the perfect dish for hot summer days! The light tang of vinegar pairs perfectly with the vegetables and octopus. It’s super easy and so delicious—definitely give it a try.
Ingredients
Boiled octopus | 100g / 3.5 oz |
Finely chopped onion | 1 tsp |
Tomato | 1/4 |
Garlic paste (from a tube) | 1 cm (about 1/2 inch) |
Chopped coriander (cilantro) | 1 tbsp |
Olive oil | 1 tsp |
Vinegar | 1 tsp |
Salt | 2 pinches |
Black pepper | 2 pinches |
Lemon juice (optional) | A few drops |
How to Make
1⃣ Chop the ingredients
Finely chop the onion, tomato, and coriander. Cut the octopus into bite-sized pieces, about 1 cm (1/2 inch) in size.

2⃣ Marinate
Mix all the ingredients—vegetables, octopus, garlic paste, olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and lemon juice—in a bowl. Cover and let it marinate in the fridge for about 30 minutes to chill and develop flavor.

When I traveled to Porto, I found a cozy bar where you could enjoy small plates with drinks. I ordered kale soup and octopus salad—and the salad was so tasty! Since I absolutely love cilantro, I recreated the dish with my own twist.
The bar had a relaxed atmosphere, with music that wasn’t too loud and an open layout where you could enjoy the view outside. It was such a nice, laid-back spot.
