Craving something sweet and crispy? Try this simple dessert-style tortilla with banana and brown sugar—it’s quick, satisfying, and has that crepe-like crunch!
One time, a French friend made crepes for me, and I was surprised that there was no ice cream or whipped cream like we often see in Japanese shops. “Just butter and sugar is enough!” she said. It was such a cultural shock—but also so delicious in its simplicity.
Inspired by that memory, I came up with this easy banana and brown sugar tortilla. It’s simple, but really tasty.
Ingredients
Tortilla | 1 |
Banana | 1 |
Brown sugar (or white sugar) | 1-2 tbsp |
Butter | 1 tbsp |
How to Make
1⃣ Slice the banana into 0.5 cm (about ¼ inch) thick pieces.
2⃣ Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the tortilla and place the banana slices on top.

3⃣ Melt butter in a frying pan, then cook the tortilla over medium heat for about 1 minute per side.
(Using a spatula makes it easy to flip.)

4⃣ Fold it with a spatula into bite-sized pieces, or enjoy it as-is with a fork and knife.

Bananas ripen quickly and can turn brown before you know it. When that happens, I chop them up and freeze them in a zip-top bag!
They’re perfect for banana bread, shakes, or smoothies later on.
