Sweet and salty—don’t you just love that combo? I’m totally hooked!
With just a few pantry staples—honey for your tea, mayo and mustard for sandwiches—you can turn leftover chicken skin into the most delicious crispy snack or side dish.
What do you usually do when you have leftover chicken skin?
Don’t throw it away! Just crisp it up in a pan and turn it into something special—either a crunchy treat or a tasty side dish.
It’s great as a snack (like crispy chips!), or perfect for adding one more dish to your lunch or dinner. It’s surprisingly easy to make, and super satisfying too!
Ingredients
Chicken skin | 100g / 3.5 oz |
【Sauce】 | |
Honey | 1 tbsp + 1 tsp |
Mayonnaise | 1 tsp |
Whole grain mustard | 1 tbsp |
(I used Kewpie mayo, but feel free to use any brand you like)
How to Make
1⃣ Cook the chicken skin
Cut the chicken skin into bite-sized pieces and place them in a cold frying pan without any oil.
Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, letting the fat slowly render out. Use a paper towel to soak up the excess oil as it cooks.
Be patient—let it crisp up slowly over low heat. That’s the key to crunchy perfection!

2⃣ Make the sauce
While the chicken skin is cooking, mix the sauce ingredients (honey, mustard, and mayo) in a small bowl.

3⃣ Toss everything together
Once the chicken skin is golden and crispy, wipe off any remaining fat from the pan.
With the heat still on low, add the sauce and gently mix until the chicken skin is well coated. Be careful not to burn the sauce!

I often make this when I have extra chicken skin—it’s one of my go-to snacks or quick side dishes for lunch and dinner. The crispiness and rich flavor are seriously addictive.
The combo of sweet, salty, and crunchy is just too good!
