Do you have an unused hot sandwich maker at home?
Why not take it out and make a warm, crispy hot sandwich with gooey, stretchy cheese? Perfect for lunchtime! The combination of gochujang, garlic, and cheese creates a bold, energizing flavor—just what you need when you’re feeling tired. Plus, with eggs and pork for protein, this sandwich is incredibly satisfying!
Ingredients
Sandwich bread (thick-cut) | 2 slices |
Egg | 1 |
Onion | 1/4 |
Pork (be careful, pork belly can be a bit greasy) | 120g |
Gochujang | 1 tsp |
Garlic paste | 1 tsp |
Sesame oil | 1 tsp |
Pizza cheese | as much as you like |
How to Make
1⃣ Slice the onion thinly and sauté it in a frying pan with 1 tsp of sesame oil until soft.

2⃣ Cut the pork into small pieces and add it to the pan. Stir-fry with gochujang and garlic paste until fully cooked.

3⃣ Place the cooked pork and onions on a slice of bread. Meanwhile, beat the egg and lightly scramble it in the pan.

4⃣ Add the scrambled egg and cheese on top, then press it in a hot sandwich maker for about 3–4 minutes.
(Cooking time may vary depending on your sandwich maker, so be sure to check to avoid burning! Be careful, as oil or juices may spill out and cause burns!)

Hot sandwiches can have endless flavor variations depending on the fillings! Try adding cilantro and fish sauce for a Vietnamese-style sandwich, or go for a sweet treat with red bean paste or chocolate. With cheese and meat, it makes a satisfying and hearty lunch. Even with simple ingredients, a hot sandwich maker transforms plain bread into something incredibly crispy and delicious!
