Perfect Pita Bread for Tzatziki Sauce
Fresh off the pan, this pita bread is so delicious you can’t stop eating it—even without any toppings. It has a soft, mild flavor that makes it perfect on its own.
Sometimes I just dip it in tzatziki, and it’s already amazing. Other times, I season beef, chicken, or pork with garlic, salt, and cumin, then wrap it in the pita for a simple and satisfying meal.
I personally prefer thin and light pita bread over the thicker kind, which can be quite filling. This simple recipe is also great when you’re on a budget!
Ingredients
All-purpose(or cake flour) | 150g / 5.3 oz |
Bread flour | 150g /5.3 oz |
Salt | 1 tsp |
Brown sugar(other sugar is fine too) | 1 tsp |
Water | 480ml / 16.2 fl oz |
Oil | 1 tbsp |
How to Make
1⃣ In a bowl, mix the cake flour, bread flour, salt, brown sugar, and oil using a whisk. (No need to sift the flour—just toss everything in!)

2⃣ Gradually add water while mixing until it becomes a smooth batter.

3⃣ Heat a pan and pour in a ladleful of the batter, shaping it like a pancake. Cook over medium heat for 2–3 minutes on each side until lightly browned. Wrap in paper towels to prevent drying out.

I first fell in love with thin, soft pita bread at a Greek restaurant—paired with tzatziki sauce, it was unforgettable.
When I visited Athens and Santorini, I noticed thicker pita bread was more common. But personally, I love the thinner kind because you can pack in more meat and veggies!
If you love lighter, flexible pita to pair with your favorite fillings or sauces, this one’s for you.
